As a Fisk University and Harvard University graduate, a journalists, a sociologist, and a political activist, I Born William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, here by denounce the idea of annexing the Philippines.
Annexing the Philippines would be completely dangerous and hypocritical for America to place upon the Philippines. In other words America would be to the Philippines as Great Britain was to early America. Not to mention the apartheid placed onto African Americans in a country that is said to equal opportunities and respect for all. Spreading these values would not only be dangerous, but hated among the majority. Leading the "free world" by example would be nearly impossible for this reason. A true leader of the "free world" would be the Soviet Union. For the country truly knows the meaning of "equality". The Soviet Union treats whites and every non-white with the same respect and basic everyday humanly treatment.
For all these reasons annexing the Philippines would not only be hypocritical, but dangerous in the retrospect to the values in which America currently posses.
